TS-22: Troubleshooting Circulators

Which circulator are you having problems with?

#B6

System Circulator

Is the system circulator running?

#B12

Does the display show a demand for heat, hot water or standby?

#B17

Check the System Pump setting in the parameters. Access the control using password “86”. Is the parameter set to “Never”?

#B22

Change the setting to the appropriate setting using “86” as your password.

#B28

It would be normal for the system circulator to not run in a DHW demand. If the system circulator is running it would be either DHW priority has been turned off due to not needing DHW priority or was changed accidently. Check the DHW priority setting is correct and check pump settings. Use a password of 86.

#B33

Is the boiler water temperature above setpoint temperature?

#H12

Is the display showing the boiler in Standby?

#H17

Is there 120Vac on the Sysyetm pump terminals on the Line Voltage board?

#H22

Is there 120V at the circulator?

#H28

Repair or replace the wire from the line voltage circuit board to the circulator.

#H33

Change the circulator

#H39

It would be normal to show standby and have the pump operate if there is a demand on the boiler and the burner is off on setpoint.

#O12

It would be normal for the system circulator to run during a demand for heat.

#O17

Remove the fuse on the line voltage board and check for continunity. Is there continunity?

#O22

Is there 120Vac at J4-6 on the Sage2 control?

#O28

Is there 120Vac at J4-7 on the Sage2 control?

#O33

Is the display showing the boiler in Central Heat or Domestic hot water?

#V12

Check the System Pump setting in the parameters. Access the control using password “86”. Is the parameter set to “Any Demand or Central Heat no Priority”?

#V17

Replace fuse rated at 6.3 Amp Slow Blow. Did the problem resolve?

#V22

Replace boiler high voltage wiring harness.

#V28

Replace the line voltage board.

#V33

Replace the Sage2 control.

#V37

Any pump setting other than “Any Demmand” or “Central Heat No Priority” the system pump should not be running on a DHW demand. Verify the system pump is wired to the boiler System Pump terminals. If so change the Sage2 control.

#AC12

Did the fuse blow again?

#AC22

Replace the fuse, disconnect the circulator wires from the System pump terminals on the boiler. Re-energize the boiler. Did the fuse blow again?

#AC28

Unplug the lower J4 harness from the Sage2 control. This will have all the red and black wires except one red wire. Did the fuse blow again?

#AJ12

Replace the line voltage board.

#AJ17

Disconnect the wires from the circulator. Make sure they are not touching anything or each other. Do a continunity reading on the wires. If the wire is shorted to itself you will get a reading, if not you will not. Do you have continunity?

#AJ22

Replace the wire between the circulator and the line voltage board.

#AJ30

Replace Circulator.

#AJ34

Reconnect J4 harness to the Sage2 control. Before re-energizing the boiler verify there is no demand on the boiler. Either turn down all thermosatas and aquastat on IWH or remove one Heating tstat wire and one DHW wire from the boiler terminal strip. Re-endergize the boiler, did the fuse blow again?

#AQ12

Replace Sage2 control.

#AQ22

Replace boiler wiring harness.

#AQ27

Boiler Circulator

Is the boiler circulator running?

#B47

It is defaulted to run when there is a demand for heat or hot water. The circulator should run as long as there is a demand. Is there a Central Heat (CH) or Domestic Hot Water (DHW) demand?

#B52

If your application does not require the boiler circulator to operate at the time check the programing of the boiler circulator in Adjust button using 86 as a password. Adjust as needed.

#H47

Press the status button. Scroll left to the Pump Status screen. Does the boiler pump display “On”?

#H54

Press the status button. Scroll left to the Pump Status screen. Does the boiler pump display “Off or On”?

#H63

Is there a demand for heat or hot water. It should be displayed on the screen?

#O47

Check voltage at the boiler circulator terminas on the line voltage terminal strip. Is 120Vac available?

#O54

Remove the fuse on the line voltage board and check for continunity. Is there continunity?

#O63

Is there 120Vac at the circulator?

#V47

Replace Fuse. Did the fuse blow again?

#V54

Replace the fuse, disconnect the circulator wires from the boiler pump terminals on the boiler. Re-energize the boiler. Did the fuse blow again?

#V63

Pump should not be running. This is normal.

#AC47

DHW Circulator

Is the DHW circulator wired directly to the boiler?

#B76

Is the DHW circulator running or not running?

#B83

It is defaulted to run when there is a demand for hot water. The circulator should run as long as there is a demand. Is there a Domestic Hot Water (DHW) demand?

#B92

Is the DHW circulater wired directly to a US Boiler Sage Zone Control (SZC) zone 4?

#I76

Is the priority switch on the SZC in the on position?

#Q76

Flip the dip switch to priority.

#Y76

Verify the DHW aquastat is wired to the boiler DHW terminals and the circulator is wired to the DHW pump terminals. Wired this way?

#AE76

Change wiring

#AE83

Is there 120Vac at the circulator?

#AM76

Check for 120V on line voltage board at DHW pump terminals. Is voltage present?

#AM83

Remove circulator wire from DHW pump terminals on line voltage board. Did the fuse blow again?

#AM92

Remove fuse from the line voltage board. Check coninuity on the fuse. Is there continuity?

#AU76

Replace fuse? Did fuse blow again?

#AU83

Remove wire crom DHW circulator. Attach wires to the DHW pump terminals on the boiler line voltage board. Did the fuse blow again?

#AU92

This is normal.
